The Company has reviewed its’ environmental performance and identified the business activities, products and services that interact with the environment.
Our Environmental Management System provides a framework for setting environmental objectives and targets to help improve our overall performance.
We are committed to comply with all applicable environmental legislative and other requirements to which we subscribe and, within reasonable economic means, to:
The EU Directive covering Waste Electrical and Electronic Directive (WEEE) has been in force in Europe since August 2005. Each EU member state subsequently introduced the WEEE directive at different dates to suit their particular national arrangements. On the 1st July 2007, it was introduced into the United Kingdom.
The WEEE directive is a mechanism to manage electrical and electronic waste at end of life cycle. Under the directive, each “producer” or “importer” of product covered by the WEEE directive is responsible for the management of collection, treatment, recovery and environmentally sound disposal of electrical waste of those products.
As an importer and distributor for the business to business market, Bunzl Lockhart is committed to the protection of the environment and therefore implementation of the WEEE directive. The most practical method to achieve compliance is to offer customers a collection and disposal service at end of their equipment life cycle. This service will be chargeable.
By charging at the end of the life cycle we will ensure that any charges reflect the true costs incurred.
The Company will do all that is reasonably practicable to safeguard the safety & welfare of all its’ employees, and that of members of the public, contractors and temporary workers whose safety and health could be affected by the Company’s work activities.
The Company aims to:
We all have equal responsibility for making and keeping our places of work safe, not only for ourselves but also our colleagues, outside contractors and our visitors. The co-operation and commitment of all employees is absolutely vital if we are to succeed in meeting and sustaining our Health & Safety goals.
